At Lights Back On, Inc., our hearts go out to the individuals and families affected by the devastating wildfires in Canada. We join in hope and prayer for an end to these catastrophic fires and for meaningful action on climate change and global warming.
This year's wildfire season in Canada has been nothing short of catastrophic, with over 10 million acres of land scorched and more than 20,000 residents displaced. While some have been fortunate enough to return home, many Canadians remain stranded away from their homes, with 492 wildfires still raging.
In response to this crisis, both the Canadian and provincial governments have pledged to match donations made to the Canadian Red Cross, raising over $32 million so far. Additionally, every $1 donated to the American Red Cross translates to $3 in support for those affected by the wildfires.
Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes is also lending his support through fundraising efforts and the release of a song inspired by the wildfires.
