Turn the Lights Back On: Connecting Georgia Families to the Resources They Need

Every day, individuals and families face difficult choices when they don't have enough money to cover essential needs. A utility bill can compete with groceries. Housing costs can compete with transportation. Educational needs can be pushed aside simply because there isn't enough left after the necessities are covered.

For some families, these challenges can mean living without reliable electricity, struggling to keep their homes at a safe temperature, or going without other resources that many of us take for granted.

No one should have to navigate those challenges alone.

That's Where Lights Back On Comes In

Lights Back On is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on information, resource navigation, and connection.

We are not a utility company, and we are not a replacement for the agencies and organizations that provide direct assistance.

Our role is to help people find their way to the resources that may be available to them.

When someone is facing a difficult situation, knowing where to start can be just as challenging as knowing that help exists.

That's why we're working to connect individuals and families with information about resources such as:

  • Utility assistance

  • Food assistance

  • Housing resources

  • Educational supplies and support

  • Community programs and services

  • Emergency and other essential-needs resources

Through information and resource navigation, we can help people better understand their options, identify potential resources, and determine their next steps.

From Darkness to Direction

The phrase “turn the lights back on” means more to us than electricity.

It represents finding a way forward when circumstances make it difficult to see one.

Sometimes that means helping someone locate a utility assistance program.

Sometimes it means helping a family find food resources.

Sometimes it means pointing someone toward housing assistance or educational support.

And sometimes, it simply means helping someone figure out where to begin.

We believe that connection can be the first step toward stability.

We Can't Do It Alone

Lights Back On is building relationships with community organizations, nonprofits, churches, volunteers, and other partners so that we can create stronger pathways to available resources.

Our goal isn't to be everything to everyone.

Our goal is to help people find the people and organizations that can help.

That is the power of resource navigation.

Your Support Helps Power the Connection

When you support Lights Back On, you're helping us build the foundation needed to do this work.

Your support can help strengthen the technology, communication, outreach, resource information, volunteer coordination, and other operational systems that allow a small nonprofit to connect people with meaningful resources.

You're not simply supporting an organization. You're helping build a bridge between people who need help and resources that may be able to provide it.

Help Us Keep the Connection Going

You can help Lights Back On:

CONNECT — Help us reach people who need information and support.

GUIDE — Help us build better pathways to community resources.

EMPOWER — Help us strengthen our ability to help people take their next step.

Whether you donate, volunteer, become a community partner, share our resources, or simply tell someone about Lights Back On, you can be part of keeping the light moving forward.

Because Sometimes Turning the Lights Back On Starts With Knowing Where to Turn.

Find Resources. Find Connections. Find Your Next Step.

Lights Back On Connecting people to resources. Guiding them toward their next step.
